Caratteristiche degli antichi e autentici pezzi Satsuma sono la pasta bianca con invetriatura color avorio e una sobria decorazione a colori tenui limitata a piccoli campi della superficie. Nella seconda metà del Settecento la decorazione a smalti colorati si arricchì di ornamenti trattati a doratura che sottolineavano disegni di paesaggi, fiori e uccelli.

Features of the ancient and authentic Satsuma pieces are white pasta with glaze ivory and a sober decoration in soft colors limited to small surface areas. In the second half of the eighteenth century decoration in colored enamels was enriched with ornaments treated golden brown that emphasized drawings of landscapes, flowers and birds.
